President of Effective Marketing, Gwyn Thakur brings more
than twenty-five years of marketing communications, marketing research
and marketing strategy experience in delivering to clients the market
intelligence and solutions they need to be effective in their marketplaces.
She has in-depth experience in a wide range of business issues,
ranging from macro areas of developing corporate, marketing, brand,
communications, customer loyalty/retention strategies to more micro
areas of product and service level issues.
Going beyond her expertise in marketing, strategy, and research
design and analysis, Gwyn provides enormous value to her clients
in identifying fundamental business issues and dynamics throughout
the marketing process, as well as turning information into knowledge
and action. She distills from an abundance of information the knowledge
that articulates major conclusions, implications and actionable
recommendations. When relevant, Gwyn helps clients make sound business
decisions based on delivering analysis of marketplace projections
and the quantification in economic terms from different courses
of action and investment levels, simulating real life scenarios.
Prior to starting Effective Marketing, Gwyn was Senior Vice President
of Marketing at Carat Freeman, the largest technology media company
in the country. While at Carat Freeman Gwyn founded the Face to
Face Media business, now their fastest growing business. Additionally,
Gwyn originated the concept of integrated media which has since
been adopted by all global publishing companies. While at Carat
Freeman, some of her clients included Sybase, SAP, Symantec, Akamai,
Platinum technology, Computer Associates, Viant, Arrowpoint, Connected
Corporation, Sitara and Analog Devices.
Previously, Gwyn was Director of Tradeshows and Events in the $6
B Systems Business Unit (SBU) of Digital. In this capacity, she
managed a large, centralized marketing planning function for the
company on a worldwide basis. Gwyn chaired and was a member of many
strategic task forces; she was instrumental in developing the corporate
brand, marketing and communications strategies for events for the
company. Throughout Gwyn's corporate management experiences, she
has worked closely with leading event producers, PR firms, brand
identity and strategy, ad agency, and management strategy consulting
firms.
Gwyn is a frequent speaker on face to face marketing strategies.
She is on the board of MassWIT (Massachusetts Women in Technology)
where she serves as the event chair. She is an Incorporator at Emerson
Hospital in Concord and is past board member of the Colonial Figure
Skating Club where she was the membership chair.
Gwyn received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Emmanuel
College, a Masters Degree in Education from Suffolk University and
a Masters Degree in Business from Lesley University (programs in
management for business and industry). She has attended a number
of post-graduate, executive management development programs.
Gwyn lives in Acton with her husband and 2 children. When not working
you can find Gwyn in a rink, on the ski slopes or on the beach in
Ogunquit.

Vijay
Thakur
During the past
30 years, Vijay Thakur has led and managed several organizations in
strategic, state-of-the-art high-technology ventures as CEO, CTO and
CMO. At Effective Marketing, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience
in Information Technology, Vertical Industries, Professional Services,
Consulting, Sales and Marketing to offer clients creative and innovative
ways to address Sales and Marketing challenges.
Prior to joining Effective Marketing, Vijay served as the Vice President
of Marketing at InfoClarus, Inc. InfoClarus provided high volume mobile
messaging solutions and mobile applications for vertical industries
to improve business productivity through mobile access to enterprise
information. At InfoClarus, he introduced several innovative tools
for product marketing and the effective use of the website, which
won praise even from competitors.
In 1996, as Chairman, CEO and President, he founded Ellora Software,
a start-up software company with 37 individuals, focused on creating
a unique web-based software solution for improving the process of
long-term clinical care management. In 1999 together with a group
of investors, he led the merger of Ellora Software into a new entity,
e-MEDx, Inc. In June 2000, e-MEDx merged into Active Health Management,
headquartered in New York City, to create a corporation with a comprehensive
set of clinical care management solutions delivered over the Internet
to the healthcare industry.
Prior to starting Ellora, he was employed by Digital Equipment Corporation
for 22 years. As Vice President of the Systems Integration Software
Business at Digital, he managed a worldwide organization of over 300
software professionals across 6 countries, and a software business
of several software products, software consulting, and R&D. During
his career at Digital, he managed several new product launch efforts
in Software, Networking and Telecommunications, and led them to become
profitable business lines.
Vijay received both of his Masters degrees, in Computer Science and
in Electrical Engineering, from the University of Wisconsin at Madison,
WI. He lives in Acton, MA with his wife Gwyn and two children.

Jeff
Tate
Jeff Tate has been
a graphic designer for 20 years. Before joining Effective Marketing,
he was president of TateDesign, a full-service graphic design studio
specializing in print and Web-based solutions. Prior to starting
TateDesign, Jeff was Art Director of The AT&T Business Network on
the Interchange Platform. In his role as Art Director, he supervised
a team of designers and illustrators for this first generation Web
site launched in 1996. Also during that time he was Associate Professor
of Design for the Art Institute of Boston.
Jeff spent 11 years
working for Boston area design studios creating print collateral,
corporate identity and packaging. He is a graduate of Rhode Island
School of Design. Jeff currently lives in Holliston with his wife
and three children.

Amy
Reinert
With over 10 years of B-to-B marketing programs experience, Amy brings
to the table a genuine enthusiasm for marketing combined with the
ability to strategize and deliver like the best.
Amy's career is dedicated to helping companies achieve their business
objectives through effective and scalable marketing programs. Most
recently, she held senior management positions in marketing at MatrixOne,
a publicly traded enterprise software provider headquartered in Westford,
MA. Amy's role was to manage the strategy and execution of direct
and channel marketing programs that drive new sales opportunities
for MatrixOne's global sales force. These programs focused on facilitating
a complex, enterprise-wide software sale to executive-level contacts
within automotive, electronics, aerospace & defense, and consumer
packaged goods companies. The results speak for themselves: her programs
produced dozens of multi-million dollar opportunities for the company.
Previously, Amy held several marketing management roles at Akamai
Technologies, an e-business infrastructure services provider headquartered
in Cambridge, MA. Through 1998 and 2002, she developed world-class,
scalable channel marketing programs in use by the worlds' largest
e-business products and services companies such as IBM, EDS, Intel,
Compaq, and Genuity. These programs consisted of direct marketing,
online promotions, seminars, sales incentives, viral marketing programs,
price promotions, and bundled product promotions - all of which supported
the exponential growth that the company enjoyed during that era.
Prior to Akamai, Amy held marketing roles at several B-to-B product
and services companies such as International Software Finance, Carat
Freeman, and Wright Line, Inc. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree
from Marquette University. |

Paul
Byrd
Paul is an experienced
Marketing and Sales Programs Director with 20+ years in the IT business
in Professional Services Marketing, Communications and Training.
As a seasoned Services Marketing veteran, he has implemented worldwide
consulting services and software marketing campaigns and has driven
sales acceleration, revenue generation and education programs for
global ($B) Technology Companies - BEA Systems, Nortel Networks, Compaq
and Digital.
His previous work experience as a Sr. Management Consultant has also
included providing strategic consulting services to clients in the
retail, manufacturing, chemical and government businesses. His client
engagement list includes: Leslie Fay/Dillards, Milliken/Dupont, N.A.S.A,
H.B. Fuller, Allied Signal/Bendix, Monsanto, Pillsbury, and Ford.
He is an energetic, instinctive, make-it-happen, and out-of-the-box
thinker, with proven abilities to deal with today's "cost-driven-you-better-get-results-or-else"
environments. He has a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering Technology
and a Masters in Management, and plays a very mean chess game.

Greg
Jarboe
Greg Jarboe has more
than 20 years of experience in high tech marketing and corporate
communications. He is a frequent speaker, writes for a number of
publications, and is regularly interviewed by the media. Greg has
pioneered an innovative approach to search engine PR, won a Hatch
Award for an annual report, and been called "the guru of lead
tracking" by Jeff Tarter.
Prior to joining
Effective Marketing, Greg was Vice President and Chief Marketing
Officer for Backbone Media, Vice President of Marketing for WebCT,
Director of Corporate Communications for Ziff-Davis, President of
Jarboe Communications, Director of Marketing for PC Computing, and
Director of Corporate Communications for Lotus Development Corp.
Before that, he held various positions at Data General, Sequoia
Systems, Stratus Computer, and Wang Laboratories, including Director
of Marketing Communications, Manager of Public Relations, and Speechwriter.
Greg graduated from
the University of Michigan, attended the University of Edinburgh,
and completed all the course work for his Masters at Lesley College.
He lives in Acton with his family and has served as the Chairman
of the Acton Board of Selectman. Greg is currently a member of the
board of directors of the Massachusetts Software & Internet
Council's Education Foundation.

Macfarlane
Christine
Macfarlane is dedicated to the art and science of marketing, marketing
programs, and marketing communications for both business-to-business
and direct sales enterprises. At Effective Marketing, Christine
is VP of Account Services where she directs a team of best-in-class
experts to deliver powerful, innovative marketing "engines,"
sales enablement programs, and content for business-to-business
marketing, sales, and partner marketing.
She is particularly focused on developing the gears needed to create
successful sales enablement engines. Prior to joining Effective
Marketing she was at Marathon Technologies, where as part of her
accomplishments she imagined, developed, and managed the implementation
of a viral and online marketing engine that yielded 10,000+ leads
and active cultivation of a 30,000+ prospect database. Her career
includes seven years as president of Macfarlane Group, a marketing
communications consulting agency. She was also Director of Marketing
Communications for Advanced Modular Solutions, and held similar
positions in various business units at Digital Equipment Corporation.
With over 20 years of experience, both on the client side and on
the agency side, Christine knows what's needed for customer-focused,
results-driven strategy and programs, and how to tune and refine
them for optimal results.
Christine has degrees in English and Education from the University
of Rhode Island. She lives in Groton, MA, and San Antonio, TX. When
not focusing on Effective Marketing clients she is a real estate
investor and a teacher of multiple streams of income principles.
